MAY 17TH / 18TH & JUN 15TH – DOWN TOWN DANCING – Well the big day is finally here. After 10 months dedicated rehearsals, cotton, thread, needles and pins all over the place, fitting and repairing costumes, painting scenery till the early hours, paper work coming out of our ears, running all over Essex collecting props and microphones, arranging radio and press coverage and organising a cast of 18 we have arrived at the opening night of DOWN TOWN DANCING. Love, Passion, Greed & Betrayal are just a few emotional aspects that are encountered during the show. Featuring true classics from hit Broadway shows such as “Chicago”, “Sweet Charity”, “Bugsy Malone” and “Guys and Dolls”. Back at the West Cliff theatre in Clacton we were guaranteed a hard working and friendly stage crew who are good friends of ours and work very hard to make the show look and sound great. Two days before the opening night, the cast were called to the theatre for a technical run through on Thursday which carried on past 11pm and a dress rehearsal on Friday night which was another late finish. Earning a well deserved morning off, the cast arrived to the theatre at 6.15pm to get ready for the opening night. After fitting and sound checking their microphones it was costume and make up time. Back stage had a great atmosphere, everyone was very excited, charged up and ready to go. It all went so quickly. It felt like when you plan for Christmas, it takes lots of preparation and is all gone in a flash. All the cast had a fantastic time with each other as they get on so well together and we all enjoyed meeting the audience after the show. There were some lovely comments. After a short nights sleep, it was back to the theatre to go again. Everyone was still on a high from the night before and the show went great just like the show before. I was so proud of all the cast and thankful to everyone who helped make the show possible.

APR 12TH & MAY 10th – 2 more fundraising events for the Brightlingsea United church and the Gt. Bromley village hall. With plenty of Organ music and singing both were great evenings and would like to thank Andrew and Beryl for asking me to play

MAR / MAY – More Remember When and Nashville shows at Hunstanton, Newton (Wales), Rayleigh, Trowbridge, Sunderland, Grimsby, Hastings, Hayes, Southend, Sidmouth, Christchurch and Mansfield which a special show including a David Whitfield Tribute finishes off my time on the road with both shows, before getting ready for my biggest venture to date Down Town Dancing

MAR 11TH / 14TH – “YOURS LIVE” An annual 3 day event organised by the “Yours” magazine held this year at Skegness Butlins. A host of performances, workshops and everything you can think of to keep you occupied for a full three days at one of the largest holiday camps in England. This year as well as performing a classical slot in an afternoon matinee show I put on 2 vocal workshops for those looking to improve their singing voice or just to learn a few basics, both days had a good turn out of around 30 people.

MAR 8TH – Cambridge Organ Society A return to the organ circuit for a one off concert which was great to get back on the keys again.

MAR 1ST – Magic Music & Mates Our latest fundraising event for the Helen Rollason Heal Cancer Charity. As well as the usual fun and games we had a special appearance from Michael J Fitch, one of the country’s best magicians who charmed the audience with his brilliance. I also performed a 30 minute slot with added duets with my brother Shane and then he went on to treat the crowd with a couple of swing numbers of his own. To round off my slot I performed as Sarah Brightman singing “The Phantom of the Opera” dueting with Steve Wicks from the band dressed as Frank Spencer – what a laugh. To round the night off we had Johnny and his Mates my Uncles band who got the crowd up and dancing right through to the end shouting for more. A special thanks to everyone for their time and dedication to such a worth while cause. www.helenrollason.co.uk

FEB 2ND & 9TH – 2 fundraising events in one week, firstly a local event performing again with Michael J Fitch and the 2nd as a special guest a Classical Choral Concert at Chelmsford Cathedral which I have been pleased to perform at in the past.

DEC
Winter Special: Back to the West Cliff Theatre in Clacton for the Winter Xmas Special. Running from the 6th till the 16th of Dec, I appeared as their leading female Singer. The show was directed by John Warwick and Choreographed by Aaron James and I really enjoyed working with them. I learnt a lot of helpful tips from John and it was great to get my teeth stuck into a project that was right up my street. Being able to sing the Christmas classics such as “Have yourself a merry little Christmas” and “Most wonderful time of the year” and then going from that to a “Sound of music” medley was fantastic. The show had a great variety and I must admit I wanted to run away with my costumes and keep them, they were gorgeous.

NOV
Xmas Show: Once more I had my yearly Christmas variety concert at the Brightlingsea community centre on Nov 30th 2007. It was lovely to see so many familiar faces. This year the concert was a bit different. As always I like to give my singing pupils a performance experience in front of a live audience as it is great for their confidence. Watching their progress and how much they have matured as singers over the last year has been a great joy for me as a teacher to watch and I am very proud of them. Included in the line up was also my younger brother Shane who has a love for swing music so he treated us to a couple of fantastic songs. I also wanted to show the audience what I had been up to over the last year or so, so my colleagues Neil Sands and Gemma Turner from the touring shows Nashville nights and Dixie days and Remember When also appeared. The night was a great success and I am looking forward to the next.
Xmas Light Switch on’s – Chelmsford / Colchester. On a cold but festive Saturday morning in December, I joined the BBC Essex Radio presenters Steve Scruton and Ian Wyatt for some Christmas songs and fun and games in the centre of Chelmsford so thank you Steve and Ian for inviting me back. After that it was straight back to Colchester high street for some more Christmas songs with the SGR Radio crew. A packed high street was lovely to see and it was nice to see lights back in the high street as they all fell down last year. Also performing was a good friend of mine Michael J Fitch from Marks Tey. The channel 4 magician produced snow from his fingers and manages to swallow a balloon whole. Thanks to Don Quinn who asked me back to sing for the lights for a third year running.
Helen Rollason Winter Ball – Intercontinental, Park Lane:
These events are a great, fun way to raise money for such a worthy cause. This is my 4th ball I have appeared at for the Helen Rollason Heal Cancer Charity and I am honoured that they keep asking me to sing. Included in the night was an auction, fun and games with the host Willie Wonker as the theme was Chocolate and Live music. Michael J Fitch was appeared as the Host Willie Wonker and he seemed to just fit the part perfectly. A very talented man.

APR – OCT
Touring through Spring to Autumn: April through to October was particularly busy for the 2 shows I am touring with, Nashville Nights and Dixie Days and Remember when. The shows take us all over the place and so my suitcase is getting plenty of use at the moment. The poor thing will be warn out by the time I book a holiday.

JUL
Proms in the Park: This is an event I love as not only does it give me chance to sing classical songs in the Castle park to a live audience of a couple of thousand which is fantastic but it also gives me a chance to wear my posh frock!! Thank you once more to Don Quinn who is involved in organising the event. The rain held out right till the last firework and a great night was enjoyed by all. I have never seen so many British Isles flags waving with such pride.

JUN 30TH A cabaret slot at my Auntie’s Pearl wedding anniversary was next which gave me the opportunity to sing a number of songs for the first time. Brother Shane had his own moment of fame singing “Ain’t That A Kick In The Head” which he made a great job of – well done Shane.

JUN 16TH – HELEN ROLLASON HEAL CANCER CHERITY FUNDRAISER
We held a party night in Wivenhoe at the William Loveless hall. The evening was a dedication to Maria De’Ath a close family member who died this year from cancer. All proceeds from the event went to the Helen Rollason Heal Cancer Charity. Along with games, and a quiz I sang my own slot and finished with my own personal tribute singing Bette Midler’s “The Rose”. To finish the evening off I sang with my uncle’s band “Johnny and his Mates” with songs such as “Gimme Some Loving” and “I Feel Good” it was a lot of fun.

JUN 6TH Was the opening afternoon of REMEMBER WHEN. A brand new show featuring all the old songs from the Forties, Fifties and Sixties, together with Neil Sands and Gemma Turner who I also perform with in the country show, we had a great afternoon at The Leas Cliff Hall in Folkestone. The show will be performing many more dates around the country so keep an eye out for it.

MAY 31ST / JUN 1ST Marked the return of the Colchester Operatic Society to the Officer’s club in Colchester for their summer concert. This year we performed a large selection of songs from varied London shows and called it “THE WICKED WEST END” Myself and brother Shane + a number of our very good friends put on a great show. The evening was topped off with some very good food and a couple of wins on the raffle. We also performed the show at the Colchester Institute where I done my Diploma in Music.

MAY 19TH A fundraising event at Gt. Bromley village hall, what a fun night. A packed hall enjoyed the variation of music I played for them including lively tunes on the organ and a selection of songs from the country show. There was a huge raffle and plenty of food and drink. Well done to Beryl Hurst and the committee for organising a successful night. .

FEB / MAR – Having settled into the country scene with further shows at Camberley, Hayes, Harlow, Felixstowe, Southport, Leatherhead, Christchurch and Bedford it was time to record a country CD, including many of my songs that I sing in the show this is a must have for any fans of country music or fans of Angie’s style of singing. See the top of this page for more details.

LATE JAN / EARLY FEB – CAMELOT – The Colchester Operatic Societies yearly performance at the Mercury Theatre, Colchester. Together with Brother Shane the performance lasts for 11 days. This year I play the part of Nimue as well as varied parts in the chorus

JAN 20TH – NASHVILLE NIGHTS & DIXIE DAYS – Going country. After a meeting with Neil Sands, the shows Producer and main act, I started rehearsals to join this 6 year successful theatre show. Together with Gemma Turner the shows other Dixie Doll it was time to perform their first show of 2007. It was at Croydon’s Fairfield halls in the Ashcroft Suite. What a brilliant night it was too, a 3 hour show minus a small break brought the full audience to their feet. I Sang several solo songs including, Crazy, Man I Feel Like A Woman, Jesus Take The Wheel and Coal Miners Daughter to name but a few. Look out for the show at a town near you. Check the gig list for dates.

JAN 9TH / 10TH – My final organ concerts on the player’s circuit. After making the decision to dedicate 2007 to my vocal career our last 2 organ concerts were the final chapter in our 6 year journey to date. Firstly it was our 3rd trip to the Lowestoft club which always treats to a warm welcome and followed by a return trip to the North Herts. Club at Letchworth. Even though it was an A.G.M. there was a very good turn out to see me off down her Vocal path. We would like to thank everyone we have met and who have helped us along the way over the last 6 years, we will never forget you.
